LOOP light design
LOOP is a herb lamp that I designed for the Stockholm Greenhouse Light and Furniture Fair in 2020. The work started in late 2019 and ended in early 2020. In the project, I designed and produced the prototype, helped build the stand for the fair, and was one of the hosts during the event. LOOP is a balanced combination of various earthy elements, and its light and herbs create a calming atmosphere and a fresh aroma for the space. The project was conducted in collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences Metropolia.

Challenge
The design objective was to design a herb lamp specifically to small kitchen spaces without taking excessive space on kitchen surfaces. The design aimed to create a ceiling lamp capable of storing green herbs while providing light to enhance their growth and aesthetic appeal.

Design Process
The design process included sketching, building prototypes, problem-solving, experimenting, and iterative learning. Each challenge encountered contributed to refining the design and bringing it closer to the final product.
The lamp’s body and frame are crafted from oak, while the plant pots were produced using clay casting techniques. The lamp also incorporates metal components and 3D-printed parts. Production was carried out in collaboration with Metropolia’s staff and partially through my independent initiative. This project provided valuable experience in managing pressure and approaching work with problem-solving mindset.

Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair Greenhouse 2020
The final stage involved participating in the Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair, where our school’s stand was featured in the Greenhouse section. I contributed to building the stand for the event and was as one of the hosts during the fair.
