Exhibition Furniture Series
The objective of this project was to design a functional exhibition furniture series for The Finnish Railway Museum, commissioned by Valovirta Design (2020 to 2021). The project was carried out in collaboration with Graphic Design and Industrial Design students.
Objective and Challenge
Furniture series were designed based on the ready planned activities for museum visitors. Our teams’ mission was to unify and conceptualize these ideas into a physical products. The furniture series needed to be functional, safe to use, user-friendly for the museum’s customers, and suitable for the challenging environment of the museum.
Design Process
The design process included various stages such as design work, project management, conceptual design, 3D modeling of the final product, creating technical drawings, prototyping, preparing visual instructions for assembling the furniture, and coordinating the production of the final manufactured prototype.
Responsibilities
In this project, I worked as student assistant. This project was a collaborative effort with graphic design students Venla Hannola and Linda Pajunen who contributed creating the visual graphic elements presented in the stands. All industrial design stages (designing the physical stands, including 3D modeling, creating technical drawings, and producing both quick and high-quality functional prototypes) were executed in collaboration with Veera Tolonen. My main responsibilities included 3D modelling the products.
