Kaste
KASTE is a drinking glass that I designed and had produced by Nuutajärvi Glassworks. The project took place in the summer of 2019. I designed and modeled the drinking glass, participated in and assisted with the production process, and captured studio photographs of the finished product.

Objective and challenge
The task was to design a drinking glass with a capacity of approximately two deciliters. My goal was to create a design that would be both elegant and practical for storage. Reflecting on my own living situation, I considered the challenges of small kitchen cabinets. I noticed that most glasses, especially round ones, take up excessive space. I wanted to design a glass that could be stacked, retained its round shape, and minimized the space it occupied in kitchen cabinets.
Solution
The challenge was to design a glass that was round yet stackable. A cone-shaped glass would be easy to stack, but creating a stackable round glass proved to be much more challenging. I solved this issue by modifying the shape of the glass at its base. This design allows the glasses to fit inside one another while remaining stable when stacked.
Production
The final step before completing the product was traveling to Nuutajärvi Glassworks. At Nuutajärvi, skilled glassblowing students brought our designs to life. I was incredibly grateful to have such professional and talented individuals helping to create my design.
